Potential Hazard Charging 6 Volt Batteries
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought this item for charging 6 volt batteries in antique autos. In my opinion there is a design defect which makes the device hazardous for 6 volt applications.
The issue I have is as follows;
By default when device is plugged in it powers up in 12 volt charging mode. This is great if you only ever wanted to charge 12 volt batteries. In my case I plan to charge 6 volt batteries.
If device is set to charge a 6 volt battery and there is an electric power outage, when power is restored the device by default on power up it switches back to 12 volts resulting in 12 volts being sent to a 6 volt battery. I believe it should either not power back up and require human intervention or remember which mode it was set for and power up accordingly to prevent a hazardous condition.

Junk
Did not work in the first device I tried them in ((input but no output) and would not even plug into the second device I tried them in. Good thing they didn't cost much. Threw them in a desk drawer out of the way were they will probably remain till I house clean some day and trash them.
