Grey's Anatomy is funny, sad and has dark undertones. It is not your average medical drama.
I consider the first six seasons of Grey's Anatomy some of the best TV that I have ever watched. The early seasons are simply the best of this show, however that is not to say that the fifteen seasons that have been on TV since 2005 have not lost their appeal as the years have marched by.
Grey's Anatomy certainly has had years where some of the episodes were not up to my standard in the writing department, but it is difficult to write for a TV show for so many years and keep it engaging and also relevant TV, that is important viewing. The writing in season six did lose some of it's spark, however times were difficult for the actors and crew behind the scenes at that time as that is when the show lost the character of Izzie Stevens when Katie Heigl left at quite short notice. Many young fans missed this character, and during this time Ellen Pompeo was noticeably absent as she was giving birth to her first child.
The show more than made up for it toward the end of season six with an absolutely, astounding season finale. I cannot recommend this show enough as it will provide the viewer with hours of entertainment and watching the first six seasons will definitely help you to decide whether you should keep on watching the show as it is a lot of time to invest to catch up fifteen seasons. I loved every minute of this show, especially these earlier seasons and would not want to miss a minute of it.
