An Intimate Dinner with Elizabeth Taylor
2 of 2 found this helpful As a Jeweler and an Elizabeth Taylor fan this book is a must have. Every page is a picture and a story for the most beautiful pieces of art you can imagine. Ms. Taylor being very candid, open, intimate, and unapologetic being herself. You felt as if she had invited you into her home and was showing you each piece telling the story behind it. As you look around you see some private pictures of her family and children which she displays proudly.
As for the jewelry it spans from all the top Houses including Bvlgari even earrings which she designed herself, there is even a titanium elephant purse she received from Michael Jackson as a birthday gift from a random shop in Las Vegas. It also shows her simple side purchasing a pair of costume earrings and wearing them because she liked them.
Elizabeth Taylor appreciated art in every since of the word and didn't mind being a "traveling museum" if you will; wearing it to be photographed in as a part of her movie costume so that we the public could also appreciate the art, design , and beauty that was in her pieces as much as the art, design, and beauty that was in the woman who wore them.
The men may have come and gone but her jewelry stayed to the end. To show she is the woman who keeps on giving she did will that her jewelry be auctioned off so that others would wear and appreciate, with the proceeds going to AIDS Research. Needless to say this auction broke many records.
Read enjoy buy the books of the Houses mentioned in this book. It is wonderful to see they were just as proud of Elizabeth Taylor wearing their pieces as she was to wear them.
Thank you Ms. Taylor I had a wonderful time and I look forward to doing it again.
