Used but like-new. Could use a few improvements, but, overall, a tremendous help when recovering from a no-weight-bearing ankle injury,
Preowned scooter was like new, absolutely no sign of previous use other than the shipping box being a little worse for wear. Instructions were enclosed, easy to follow & scooter was easy to put together. Tires are not good for outdoor use, can even be unsafe if not careful since the smallest bumps can cause the handle bars to jerk so badly as to lose control. A scooter with all-terrain tires should be the choice if it's to be used outdoors for more than smooth surface sidewalk travel. This thing can and does pick up surprising speed very quickly on smooth surfaces and even the slightest downward grade, and a brake on ANY style or brand of knee scooter is an absolute MUST HAVE! Don't even consider one without a brake!! It rolls very easily on carpeting, and hubby had no complaints there. As others have said, it has a very wide turning radius. Based upon another user's review, hubby made a very small modification to a piece that restricts the turning radius, allowing for sharper turns....a VERY SMALL modification.... otherwise it would turn too sharp and be too dangerous. Even WITHOUT that modification, you have to slow down and take it easy in the turns or you can tip it, and even WITH that modification, you're still not likely to make alot of turns in one "pass", so to speak. He quickly learned how to pick it up and point it in the right direction and, while that does get annoying and can be tiring, the tipping hazard created by turning too sharp would be too great to do away with the safety feature altogether. Handle bars fold down (atop the seat) easily once you get the hang of it. The handle bars should somehow lock in place when folded down, though. The way it is, they flop easily from side to side (on either side of the seat) & I got knocked in the face by a handle bar more than once while loading it in the back of our SUV. I would think that would be an easy modification and one that would really make a big difference for the person who has to pick it up and move/carry it around. The basket is a great help & having had one on this scooter, wouldn't buy a scooter without one. The "knee seat" is well padded and comfortable. Overall, we're pleased with this little scooter, and whatever small "deficiencies" it may have can be easily dismissed when comparing it to using crutches, which, in my opinion, shouldn't be used by anyone over the age of 55. Now those things are a REAL safety hazard!
