Battlefield - BBC Production - circa 1996
BBC Production circa 1996 - This is the most compelling presentation of key World War II Battles ever produced. It is a shame it is not available in DVD.

One of the Best!
This is ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CD's (and I own 1,000 CD's). This U.K. group ("Smokie") was not real well known in the U.S., but was very popular in its home country. Many Americans only remember the song "Living Next Door to Alice" which was released in late 1976 to mild acclaim, peaked in Jan. 1977 and has a vague similarity to several songs done by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show. However, that impression does not begin to do justice to this U.K. band. Smokie's solid arrangements and delivery are evident in many of their songs, including "Needles and Pins" (1975) a great cover of the original song released by the Liverpool band, The Searchers in 1964 (Smokie's rendition on this CD is clearly superior to the original), "Don't Play Your Rock'n Roll to Me" (1975), "Oh Carol" (1978), "Tambourine Man" (1990), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (1990). Other good songs include: "Norwegian Girl" and "It's Your Life". The body of work on this particular CD is fabulous, and the CD is a pleasure to listen to time and again. While the songs that appear here can be found in other Smokie CD's, this particular collection with these renditions are the best arrangements of all and this is definitely the CD you should own! I've introduced family members and friends to this collection, and all have come to treasure this CD (even my teenage kids, go figure). Do yourself a huge favor, and add this CD to your collection!
