Nice Budget Handheld Radio

A good budget radio, keeping in mind the price. You get what you pay for. Open source programming software available that allows easy computer based programming from Linux and other platforms. (Chirp) Field programming is possible but not particularly easy or intuitive. Keep the menu key close at. Turning off all the beeping, talking and flashing led colors makes the radio more pleasant to use and makes the battery last longer. There is only one channel bank and scanning is not very fast. Good audio reports on the internal mic but not so much with the speaker mic. Couldn't rebuild or replace the batteries on my Icom for the cost of one of these radios.
