The Intel D925XCV Motherboard is excellent for its intended use.
I purchased the Intel D925XCV motherboard to build a system for an elderly aunt who is not interested in the latest technology, does not have a large amount of money to spend, and is still using a 19-year-old Pentium 75-based Packard Bell Windows 95 PC.
If you want the latest, greatest, fastest, most powerful system that money can buy, then this motherboard is NOT for you.
But if you want a good, stable, well-featured motherboard; you want to upgrade to a 64-bit OS capable system with PCI Express X16 video, DDR2 memory (AA# C57587-403 and AA# C57587-404 support unbuffered ECC), and a 64-bit capable single-core LGA775 Pentium 4 CPU with HT Technology; and are happy with Windows XP w/SP3, then this IS the board for you.
Keep in mind that the Intel D925XCV motherboard supports up to only 4GB of memory. Windows Vista drivers from Intel's website are quite limited. Windows 7 drivers from Intel's website are almost non-existent. Windows Vista and Windows 7 have their own Microsoft drivers for this board.
The D975XCV is capable of running 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, but a 64-bit version of Windows 7 will run slowly on this motherboard. Vista will run fine on this board, but not very fast. Windows XP and Windows 2000 will run very fast on this board. Just be sure to insert the SATA/RAID Diskette and press F6 when prompted while installing Windows 2000/XP if SATA drives are installed. Windows 98/Me will not run properly on this board with more than one hard drive, and/or more than one DVD/CD drive or other ATAPI device installed; and in all cases, must be limited to 512MB of memory or less in order to run at all. Windows 95 will crash repeatedly on this board regardless of how much or how little memory is allocated.
The D925XCV has 4 onboard SATA ports, 1 onboard Enhanced IDE controller, and 1 onboard floppy controller which supports one 3.5" floppy drive. The board has a full complement of Audio ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 1 IEEE 1394 port, one 10/100 or one Gigabit Ethernet port depending on the version, 1 Serial port, 1 Enhanced IEEE 1284 Parallel port, 1 PS/2 Keyboard port, and 1 PS/2 Mouse port on the rear I/O panel. It has 4 PCI slots, 2 PCI Express x1 slots, and 1 PCI Express X16 slot.
New D925XCV motherboards usually sell for less than $80 New on Ebay, and very often for less than $50 Used. I would recommend this board to a friend under some circumstances.

Ideal Processor for Most Intel 875P Chipset-based Socket 478 Motherboards
The Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz (NE80546PG0881M) Processor with HT Technology is ideal for use on Socket 478-based motherboards utilizing the Intel 875P Chipset. This processor is based on the 90nm Prescott core and has 1MB of Level 2 Cache. On some early 875P-based motherboards, however, a BIOS update may be required. I recommended that users contact the motherboard manufacturer to ensure compatibility of your motherboard's BIOS with this processor.
In the unlikely event that your motherboard requires a BIOS update to utilize this processor and no update is available from your motherboard manufacturer, a BIOS update download should be available for purchase at eSupport.com.
