Great Product!
This is an excellent journal. I use it for lesson planning and record keeping. There are pages for field trips, yearly goals, curriculum used, general notes, and resources used. The planning/journal pages have plenty of room for writing. I was paying over $30 for a planner I used to use before I discovered the Homeschooler's Journal. It's a great value with everything I need to keep an accurate record of my child's homeschool year and keep my lesson planning organized. I homeschool one child, and it works perfect for our needs. I can't say how it would work for parents who are home educating more than one child, since I've never used it for more than one. But for our family's needs, it's a wonderful product.

Simply Grammar Takes the Pain Out of Grammar
7 of 7 found this helpful This book takes the pain out of teaching grammar. I bought it for my 8 year old to help with reading and grammar. The lessons are broken down into manageable increments. I love the pictures that accompany lessons. They give me a feeling of the cozy homeschool and bonds between parents and children. This is a great book for those beginning grammar students. It recommends not to start the book until the child is around 9 years of age. Well worth the investment - very parent and child friendly, easy to understand, and self explanatory!

Pleasantly surprised!
1 of 1 found this helpful I hadn't heard of Five In a Row until a few weeks ago when I asked some fellow homeschooling mommies if they could recommend a preschool program for my autistic son.
Overwhelmingly, the responses were Before Five in a Row. So I gave it a shot. The first thing that impressed me about this "curriculum" is it doesn't require expensive materials, nor does it require a purchase of lots of books (although that option is available). Most books are available through the library.
This book is a practical guide for parents who want to introduce and instill a love of learning in their preschoolers.
Before Five in a Row is geared toward ages 2 - 4. I have discovered great hands on projects that will keep my son engaged and interested. It's simple, too. Since Before FIAR is just one book, and an uncomplicated one at that, I don't have to keep up with a whole lot of books, papers, and supplies.
One thing I don't like is this book doesn't seem to be readily available. I had a hard time finding this one. Some of the recommended children's books are out of print, and may be hard to find, even through interlibrary loan, but the program is so adaptable to glitches such as this, I can just skip that literature lesson with no problems.
The author doesn't "talk down" to her readers, either. Her directions are clear, consise, and easy to follow.
All in all, this is one purchase I'm glad I made.
