I'm glad I bought this before someone else did.
I have wound up liking this more than I thought I would. I keep it in my bedroom and just lay my phone on it then remove it , sometime during the night or in the morning, when the phone is fully charged. Also, the glow from the charging pad reflecting off of a wall provides a night light, if I need one. I have an Otterbox case on my Galaxy Note 8 and the pad works fine, it does not work on my note 4, which has a thicker Otterbox case than the 8. At first I did not like Otterbox changing the case but now I'm glad it did.
This open box pad was only missing the car charger, which I got from Samsung while it was on sale and my total price was $12.00 less than the sale price for a new, complete bundle.
