Mr. Coffee 12 Cup Switch Coffee Maker, Black
04 March 2021
Lasts forever, and easily fixed.
Inexpensive, but no internal computer to get wet. Coffee does get into the "sealed" bottom cavity of almost every machine I have ever owned This one m has the basic..on/off switch. My old one ( identical to this new purchase) got wet inside and the heater element connection to the AC wire rusted, causing a incomplete circuit. Soldering required some innovation, since the heater element wire was steel. Originally the connection was spot welded and also used crimp on terminals. I wrapped the protruding heater element wire very tightly with thin bare copper wire and soldered to that. Bingo. All good. Now I have a brand new spare Mr Coffee. The first one lasted over a decade. Daily use. Good little machine for the money.
Onkyo CP-1050 - Direct Drive Turntable -QRQ291*

damn good value for money
The base of this turntable is solid and heavy. It is very quiet. The tonearm pivots are high quality metal, not plastic. I purchased this turntable used and without a needle/cartridge, rubber mat for $140. I purchased a very good quality AT 120 Eb cartridge pre mounted to a headshell for $120, and a mat for about 20 bucks. These list from $199-299 on EBay, so I feel very comfortable. The needle that comes with the TT is entry level, and should be immediately upgraded. Some folks complained about hum...mine is dead silent. The tracking force counterweight is very oddly labeled...as in..... I just could not understand how to set it, and I speak fluent TT, so I used my own tracking force measurement device. I have an old teeter totter type one, but new digital ones are for sale for less than 10 bucks. I suggest that you buy one.I researched this quite a bit before I bought one, and I would call it by far the highest quality in this price range. To do better, one would need to spend a thou...and I consider that to be a prime example of the Law of Diminishing Returns.

Astonishingly clean.
Mind blown. Had been using, in rotation, a Proton 1100, a SAE P102, a RGR 4...through an SAE 201 power amp for nearfield monitoring thru JBL 4311s and a self powered sub, OMG.Defeat the tone controls and the clarity just shines through. I have been sitting here in pseudo audiophile Nirvana for the last hour...all chores abandoned... listening to Tales From Topographic Oceans with my eyes closed and a big ol smile. I just purchased the Parasound for $200 on E Bay. Best sound for money I have EVER spent.I havent been this surprised at the quantum leap in clarity since I bought a pair of Original Advents back in 1976. I am frankly surprised that my cobbled-together-from-used-parts system can sound this good. Popped the top and ...wow...just wow. Source selection is not done thru old school switches, so no DeOxit will ever be needed for this preamp. The input selector buttons on the front talk to a big ol Toshiba chip near the rear panel, right by the source inputs. Sweet......And to think that I was quoted #300 to recap the 1980 vintage RGR. Pishaw. Flaws ? Well, I want an On indicator light, gosh darn it. Several switched AC outlets would have been nice... b/c the power cord that came with this thing could also be used to tow a car in an emergency.Still not sure about the Direct out. The Owners Manual says I have to be sure that my power amp has DC blocking capacitors in the signal paths....but how can I obtain that info ? So, I am wary of using it as my Output. Anyone have any suggestions ? happy camper. Try one, you will like it.
