    worth looking into
Toshiba has had several models of DVD/VHS recorders, this one is from 2008 I believe..... got it for a steal on EBay, only problem was the remote didn't work. Ordering a new remote from Toshiba was simple, and reasonably priced. The DVR660 has a digital tuner that will pull in analog, over-the-air and QAM cable stations, and record either to DVD or VHS. The picture is fairly good, but not as good as other machines I own made by Sony and Panasonic. Operation of this unit is pretty straightforward, anyone familiar with DVD recorders should have no trouble at all. DVD loading time is fairly quick, the Menu system is easy to figure out as far as settings and doing recording. The Timer function is a bit strange, there are dedicated buttons on the remote control to set a Timer, but simply turning the machine off isn't enough.... you have to hit a second button labeled "timer set" in order to actually set a timer. So far this machine has played and recorded every type of disc I have, a big plus.... Another good feature, the Display button on the remote shows info about digital tuning, with a signal strength meter, this feature is not present on most other DVD recorders I'm aware of. I have tried the tuner with both over-the-air digital reception, and cable QAM reception, both work very well. The recorded picture is very clear, with some very small softening and dark overtones as compared to the original source. Haven't done any VHS to DVD transfers, but the VHS part seems to work well. All in all a very good machine for what I paid for it, Toshiba has a newer model out called the DVR670, which probably has all the same features, but for much more money.

    very serviceable wireless headphones
I've been using RCA WHP101 900Mhz wireless headphones for many years.... they have a good sound, but much noise and distortion depending on your position from the transmitter. Best Buy Outlet had these Rocketfish headphones (used or open box) for some very low prices, I bid and got one for less than $25.00. If you go to the Best Buy Retail Store, Rocketfish wireless headphones are priced at $89.99. The Rocketfish brand is apparently exclusively made for Best Buy, not available in other stores or on line. They came in a nice boxed package, with instructions, the set-up is a no-brainer. An RCA conversion cable is included, converting a mini-phone plug to standard size RCA phone jacks, making the headphones useable with just any kind of equipment, whether it be a line out from your stereo receiver, CD or DVD player, or any television with line-out or a headphone jack. The sound is very good, albeit the volume is a bit lower than my RCA phones. No frequency adjustment is needed, just hook up the transmitter, turn it on, and you're good to go. I believe it transmits at 2.4 Ghz, which makes it very quiet, no apparent residual noise from any position, no matter what distance I walk away from the TV. The base transmitter is rather large, with two open slots for positioning the headphones while not in use, and also serves as a charger for the internal rechargable batteries. There are two led lights, one red for charging, one green for when the set is operational, plus an On/Off switch. It took me a while to get used to positioning the headphones back into the base unit, as it has to be fitted at a certain angle to fit properly and charge. The unit can be charged in either the on or off position, I usually hit the power off button, then position the headphones into the cradle, until the red light comes on. So far I've had the headphones on more than 6 or 7 hours without recharging. The headset itself is a bit bulky, with a large tight band on the top that is not adjustable. It is rather uncomfortable to wear these headphones for any extended period of time, as they fit quite tightly, sometimes to the point of discomfort. On my old headphones, the single band would widen after time, making constant adjustment necessary. The headphones have a green led light and on/off switch on the left side, while on the right there is an up/down control to adjust the volume. There is also a volume control on the rear of the base charger. I really don't have many complaints to air, other than the lower volume and somewhat uncomfortable headband, these headphones work very well, especially for the price I paid. I've no experience with other brands such as Sony or Sennheiser, I can only compare them to my old RCA headphones. The only noticeable difference between old and new is, the old phones had a wider stereo separation, and a bit warmer sound, more 'analog', if you will. The Rocketfish phones are suitable for TV viewing, however I'm not sure I would have been completely satisfied if I had paid the retail price of $89.99. They are definitely clear sounding and noise-free, fine for non-critical listening of broadcast material.

    excellent value for the money
I have several of these USB WiFi adapters, they all work very well. On one of my older laptops, the internal WiFi card stopped working, I installed this model, it was essentially 'plug and play'. Comes with a small software disc, but in each instance I was connected via Ethernet, Windows installed the software automatically. Great product for the price
