One of the most famous and best games ever made, also on SNES.
2 of 2 found this helpful The game that all other F.P.S.'s followed. The original DooM is a legend and following the awesome game that was Wolfenstein 3D, lives up to its predecessor and surpasses it also. The SNES version of DooM is very much like the PC counterpart, but is still second best. The SNES version doesn't have episode choice and cannot be saved. The only other drawback is it runs at a considerably lower frame rate, way lower than the PC version but its not to the point where its unplayable. The music is defiantly superior to this versions counterpart, the 32x version by leaps and bounds. In DooM, you play as the un-named space marine that must single handily fight the forces from Hell and survive. The game features many levels, difficulties, and weapons, as well as secrets, and even some secret levels, something that games now neglect as not being necessary or even fun. This is also one of the special few games that uses the FX chip the SNES became famous for. This game truly shows what the SNES is capable hardware wise. The controls are also very good considering unlike the PC version you use a mouse and keyboard. One final bit of interest is that this game came as a red cartridge, but later was just the standard grey. Killer Instinct is the only other game I can think of that its cart was a different color, black, rather than the standard. Definitely one of the best game on the SNES, it should not be missed by anyone with a SNES or looking to collect games for it.

One of the best consoles ever made.
1 of 1 found this helpful Truly this is one of the best consoles ever made. It is reliable, has no moving parts, is a top-loader so there won't be any issue with cartridges not working unless its the cartridge its self. The Genesis has a great library of games and both the system and games are affordable to get too. I recommend this to anyone who loves 2-D and/or old 16-bit games or is a SEGA fan like myself.
