Overall, a good product, with a few caveats.
We bought this to replace a Fortinet 300m.
The FG-90D is easy to configure, with lots of options.
It has been stable, without any crashes, hangups, or performance issues.
The issues that we have run into, are:
- The CPU can spin-up and stay at 50% without any obvious reason.
- The memory (RAM) tends to be consumed for no apparent reason.
- There is no way to go to the Fortigate website and download software images for this device, once it is out of warranty, unless you subscribe to their support services.
The unit that we bought came from Japan. It was pre-configured for the Japanese language. We had to login through the command line interface (CLI) to set it to English.
Overall, this has been a good product. We use it mainly as a DNS server.
