Insightful, Interesting, Rewarding and Enlightening
Prof Dreyer's research on the millennial's old competition between China an Japan has resulted in a superbly interesting and extremely insightful book. History can be a guide to the future but only when the past is understood well.
China and Japan have throughout the centuries contended with one another, warred upon one another, and maneuvered politically, economically and militarily to be the primary power in Asia.
The history of these interactions is fascinating and deep.
This book is particularly relevant to the 21st century power struggle being waged by China to "resume its proper place" by controlling the South China Sea and intimidating as well as buying influence among the other Asian nations.
Definitely well written, it is a good read .

Good Quality ink but...
Disgusting that Cross ink, although, very good, is now made in China.
It was better when made in Rhode Island.

HAD TO REPLACE CARB AFTER 35 HOURS
I WAS FORCED TO REPLACE THE B&S Nikkei carb when the original failed after 35 hours of use. It failed because the design includes a main jet insert into a teflon tube. The rubber O-ring holding the brass main jet in the end of the tube loses its grip which allows gas to flood the engine. Replacement kits do not fix this problem. After breaking off the air-fuel valve (apparently installed by King Kong) I quit rebuilding and bought a new carb. Maybe it will last through this year
$2/hr for carburetion is too pricey.
I took the old teflon tube, installed the repair kit's main jet and carefully painted epoxy at the end of the tube where the jet sits. It stayed in place (the O-ringed main jet had slipped each time previously installed) but due to breaking the valve stem, I haven't tried it. If this new carb fails, that is my next try
