Cuckoo: Complete Series 1 to 3 [Region 2] - DVD - New - Free Shipping.

Cuckoo says it all.
Great cast, headed by Greg Davies as the perennial loser of the family and Andy Samberg as the new son -in-law known as Cuckoo. Samberg only appears in series 1 and personally I rate that as slightly better than the later series where Taylor Lautner takes over the name role as Samberg's lost son. Still Lautner has his moments as the young man bought up in a commune in Nepal & totally unused to modern living. Davies is brilliant throughout as are the rest of the cast, especially Ken Crowther as family friend Steve. My favourite episode is the second last in series two where son Dylan (Tyger Drew-Honey) tries to steal a car from his own driveway, causing the whole neighbourhood to gather for a Neighbourhood Watch meeting. Steve (Crowther) has developed his own defensive style for use on intruders - a mix of karate and Rugby Union! He quickly demonstrates the element of surprise by a nut punch to his wife's new boyfriend, but then has to cope with Cuckoo who has a history of martial arts training. Needless to say Steve is unaware of this. Many, many laughs I can tell you. This seems to be a joint Brit & American show with the title character played by well known American actors in. I love Sandberg anyway (Brooklyn 99) and I must admit to a bit of surprise by Lautner's acting. Not just a teeny bopper star anymore. Maybe trying to find a niche in both countries for the selling rights. But it is essentially a British show, written brilliantly with British humour - so much better than American I find. Cuckoo has been running in Britain for many years and I am surprised it hasn't gained a regular spot on Aussie television.

Astonishingly brilliant
This 3 part series was made to coincide with the start of WWI. A real high class retelling of the 37 days after the shooting of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. The 3 part series concentrates mainly on the German and British trying to ensue that peace is maintained. But eventually the slow moving Austrians make the move that starts the war to end all wars, dragging in Russia and France to the conflict. The script is brilliant, the acting brilliant, the direction brilliant. Any WWI enthusiast will marvel at this production. Congratulations to all involved.
