Good, but in this price range find something more modern
2 of 6 found this helpful These are good speakers. I bought some modern (2015) Infinities, which are somewhat comparable in price and quality. The Bose sound a little muddier, overall. Muddier (slower response in the lower frequencies) in the low range isn't that important, and can be interpreted as warmth. Crispness in the mid-range and highs are better served with modern speakers, with their better, modern materials. Just my personal observation and preference.

The first really good headphones
I remember these headphones from my first year at college. 1970. I bought them. They were the first really good headphones that weren't clunky and heavy. Now in 2018, I wanted to understand what I heard in 1970, The HD414s sound good. Not very good, just good. They have limited bass, or lower end, compared to modern mid-range (price) headphones. They are relatively smooth in the mid-range, but often the high-end sounds a bit weak. I wouldn't judge them harshly if I didn't have a better reference, as provided in modern times by modern headphones. They are a classic, though, and I am proud to have them.

Good product, seems close to original. Strong motor. Includes motor shaft pulley. Pedal is good for motor speed control. Extra brushes included.
