Pros and cons of the AM HOME STATION RADIO TRANSMITTER
5 of 5 found this helpful On the surface, this transmitter has an elegant plastic design. The light is bright which lets you know when the unit is on, and when it gets dim, it's time to change the battery. The current maximum AM power level allowed by the FCC is 100 milliwatts, which produces an urban grade signal of no more than 1500 feet, even with the most efficient system. This unit's power level is 50 milliwatts, which is half as powerful as it could be legally. Under ideal conditions, you can broadcast up to 700 feet. In my house, I have to keep it in the same room as the radio. Keep in mind I have metal studs in the wall which obstructs the signal. If you are satisfied keeping this unit in the same room as your receiver radio, you will be well-pleased with this unit. It is well-built and produces a nice tone in the receiver. For the price, it should have come with a BNC telescopic antenna--which are only $5.00 on Ebay. No sweat--just buy one. I like the unit's design--except for the fact that the 9 volt battery hangs on the outside of the unit. It should be inside the unit, where you could remove a few screws and change it as needed. It's about twenty dollars overpriced once you add shipping. If the few cons don't upset you, then buy the unit. I did and I'm well satisfied, playing it every night. The 9 volt battery seems to have a long life as the light remains bright. I hope this review was helpful.

Rayovac Rechargables
You can save a lot of money when you buy rechargeable batteries. They recharge hundreds of times and the chargers either come with the batteries or are inexpensive. Charging is fast! No more trips to the store for disposables, and no more disposable batteries in the landfill. Buy them here where the price is right. $$
