ES9023 board is very useful for everything
I have used this board as ,
(1) Raspberry Pi (hifiberry compatible DAC)
(2) USB DAC with Amanero Combo384 compatible board
This performs well considering its price( DAC + USB I/F upto 384Khz US$100)
with bus power , it seems lowest cost of high resolution / high sampling DAC in the world.
(3) External replacement DAC for HDMI audio extractor (7.1ch) and/or Behringer DCX2496 speaker
management system DAC replacement.
For these usage I have connected hust only I2S (BCLK/LRCLK/Data) signal only to reproduce high quality sound.
And more I can isolate power supplies from these internal circuit / power supplies,
supplying external +5V DC x 1 or x 2 (USB DAC case) it outperformed most of high priced DACs.
I strongly recommend this DAC board for replacement of current lower cost DAC or DAC chip.

Better than AK4490 / AK4118 DAC
1 of 1 found this helpful I have used 3pcs of DAC (AK4490/AK4118 and optional XMOS) with nanoDigi 2x8b from MiniDSP.
AK4490 DAC sounds so so not bad , but I like to add much smoothness.
When used with MiniDSP nanoDIgi 2x8 B , this DAC works well.
Sound is somewhat lighter than hi-end DACs great sound for this value!
