Pre-revolution US History
1 of 1 found this helpful "We are Conococheague Valley men!" No one can deliver a line like John Wayne. Although Hollywood took creative license with this film, it's still is a great story about a time in US history that get's little attention. Tension between the colonist and the Crown didn't start in 1775 or 1776. It had be brewing for years. James Smith, played by John Wayne, was an early leader in our struggle for independence. Some historians have said the revolution began with Smith in Mercersburg, PA, a small town not far from the Ft Loudon featured in the movie.

Great Job of Describing the Trail
I almost put this book down after reading the first 10 pages. The author’s word choices often seemed a little "over the top"—a little carried away with his thesaurus. I'm glad I kept reading. He did a great job of describing the trail itself, its history, and its camping areas. He also included several personal stories that were very humorous. This book is a must read for anyone thinking about hiking the Laurel Highland Trail.
