    Radical Rex Sega CD Port
Radical Rex was originally released for the Super Nintendo. Eventually, the game was ported to the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and Sega (Mega) CD. It is a fun little platforming game developed by Activision. In the game, you take on the role of a fire breathing T-Rex simply named "Rex". He rides a skateboard through 10 intense levels on occasions but for the most part Rex will be walking on foot. Contrary to popular belief, you can actually roar in the Sega CD version. (and quite possible the Genesis version as the Sega CD version is a direct port.)In order to do it press Up + A. The level layouts in The Sega CD port of Radical Rex are different and on occasions much more difficult. Colors have been toned down a little but that is because of the color pallete limitations of the Sega CD. (no the urban myth about the color pallete of the Sega CD is not true.) With a CD Quality Soundtrack this game is worth buying if only for putting it into your CD player and listening to the audio tracks on it. However, if you are a fan of platformers, Radical Rex will definately suit you in a gameplaywise way too. For some reason, the main enemy in the Sega CD version and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version is a Magic using Gophar like - thing known as Skriitch according to the manual. In the SNES version it is a human wizard named Sethron. Regardless, both of these characters are the same with attack patterns so they are entirely the same difficulty to beat. The SNES version still excels in having better layouts but the Sega CD version is definately second best due to the CD Quality audio and blast processing on it's side.

Eternal Champions: Challenge From the Dark Side
The game is really a good game. Its often overlooked by many due to it being on the Sega CD add-on for the Sega Genesis/Sega Mega Drive. This game is a sequel to the Mega Drive/Genesis title called Eternal Champions. Another reason why this game is overlooked is because fighters like Mortal Kombat overshadowed it on the market. The series was meant to be Sega's cry back to Mortal Kombat. In fact one could say that the game is very similar to Mortal Kombat. Finishing moves with lots of gore are one of the best features of this game. This game's gameplay has also been tweaked from its Mega Drive/Genesis prequel. In addition, Tristan des Pres, the music composer does a wonderful CD quality score for the game. In fact, I'd say that it surpasses the Chiptunes created with the GEMS Sound Driver engine the original game uses. The only things I dislike about the game are the facts that normally it takes forever to unlock a character (unless you do the cheat codes to unlock them.)and the insane difficulty of the computer AI. Its even somewhat of a challenge on the lowest difficulty setting. This is good if you like a struggle but as for me, not really. The game has decent controls. The story is about a group of people who were taken from different times right before they were to die by a being who is made out of energy known as the Eternal Champion. He sees their deaths as the keys to the destruction of humanity. He is willing to give them a second chance however, he only has enough power to return one of them back to their own time. He holds a contest to see who shall return to their time. However, the contests have been a stale mate and time just keeps reseting itself. It turns out that the cause is none other than the Dark Eternal Champion. He is the Eternal's unknown brother and wants to doom the planet rather than rescue it. To do it he withheld four contestants by moving ahead of the Eternal through time and reaching them before he did. He intends to see the Eternal's destruction as the Eternal's powers are weakening. The reason why I bought this game was so I would have an official copy for my Sega CD and to rip the redbook audio at high quality off the disc. I highly recommend this game if you own a Sega CD. Games this good for that system are hard to come by. Plus, its generally at a very affordable price making it pretty much a steal.

Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse
Owning both the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive ports of Mickey Mania growing up, I can say that I did enjoy playing this game. In fact I still do. While I'm not a huge Mickey Mouse fan, the platforming experience is one worth doing even if you aren't fond of Mickey Mouse or any other Disney related franchises. The little game consists of Mickey Mouse playing through levels themed after all of his best cartoons up to 1990. Gameplaywise, the game is neither better nor worse than the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis or Super Nintendo ports. The Sega CD version, like the Sega Genesis version, utilizes blast processing for stable gameplay speeds of 60 FPS (50 on PAL consoles.)with minimal slowdown. Graphically, the game has sharper and cleaner graphics than it's Genesis/Mega Drive counterpart. Things look generally prettier and look similar to the SNES port. The game has all of the levels that the Genesis/Mega Drive version has (including the ones the SNES version lacked due to space limitations.) In addition to these, the game has a few brand new levels because of the increased storage space on the Sega CD. Unfortunately, it does not have the level that is exclusive to the SONY Playstation port with the Giant from the Mickey and The Bean Stalk cartoon chasing him. It does have all of the other levels featured in the PS1 port though. As for the Music, it is CD Quality but doesn't sound anything like the music featured in the SNES and Genesis/Mega Drive ports. In fact, it seems like most of the really great compositions from the lower quality ports were replaced by worse ones. Quite a shame since it was one of the most memorable things from those ports. There are also a few music tracks that are the same but play in different levels than they did in the lesser ports. All and all, this game is worth the time if you love a good platforming experience or just love Mickey Mouse. However, if you can try getting more than one port of the game so you can be the judge of which one is better since all of the ports have good features that make them worth buying.
