Trio 64 is a classic Bill Evans album. It has now been beautifully remastered by Verve from the original analogue master tapes. The quality of the sound is a joy. Anyone who loves the music of Bill Evans should have this in their collection. They will not be disappointed.

Traveling With Tift

An exceptionally well produced two disc set in the form of a 50 page hard back book. Various pages have beautiful colour illustrations by the artist Diana Sudyka. In appearance and quality, just about as good as any set I own. Tift Merritt was an acquired taste and not the type of performer I would expect to like. There is an appealing emotional quality to her singing, as well as a wonderful musicality that won me over. Merritt is supported by stellar musicians: the likes of Eric Heywood, Marc Ribot and John Convertino, the drummer and a founding member of Calexico. This is as good as Americano music gets, full of tight, dynamic performances. The recording is simply outstanding. If it isn't audiophile quality, it comes pretty darn close on the right equipment. This is an unqualified success for Tift Merritt and her musicians and so it comes with an unqualified recommendation.
