incomplete
0 of 3 found this helpful i was so looking forward to this release from the standpoint that i am collecting as many charted hits from 1970 as possible and wanted to have all of james brown's hits in one place. not gonna happen. first of all if the collection goes by release date, "give it up or turn it a loose" may have been "released" in late 1968. it did not chart until january 1969 but is not included. charted hits "get up (i feel like being a sex machine)" and "super bad", both from 1970, are not included as well. i believe there was also a "bubbling under" song called "hey america" from 1970 (not sure) but it is also not included. if my opening assumption that "release" date is the criteria, then "get up, get into it, get involved" which "debuted" on 1/2/71 probably should have been on this collection as well but was not. this collection could have been better, i will not buy it, though, because my criteria for wanting it was not met!

highly overrated
this album was highly touted in the book "scented gardens of the mind" as "a masterpiece rivalling the best in europe". often, i agree with the author's "opinions", but not in this case. if you like noodeling and atonal sounds rather than tuneful and melodic, then this one's for you. albums like this may have a slight interest when listened to once, but once is more than enough. there is much better stuff out there waiting to be discovered.

better than you remember
probably an underrated album by glen. sometimes he can make the definitive version of a song and he does a fantastic job on buffy ste marie's "take my hand for awhile", a 10 out of 10. his 2008 album "meet glen campbell" is also highly recommended, borrowing heavily from the string section of "galveston" on one track.
