Charming and wise -
This is a wise and charming book. It celebrates both the dignity of animals and the joys if literature - two lessons which I wish all children had a chance to learn. I've given it to several adults as well and all have loved it.

Chessie by Thomas W. Dixon
This is a delightful book combining history, cats, railroads, and (for many of us) memories. It evokes trips, advertising illustrations, the "look" of things from a certain time when many of us were children.

Common Courtesy by Judith Martin
Funny, tart, sensible, and wise - this little book is not for those with solemn dispositions or no sense of the rediculous. It is amusing, even a bit arch, but ultimately it makes a serious and crucial point.
