Black Sabbath do eighties rock.
This is a great Black Sabbath album, although if like me you are used to the old Sabbath and perhaps the Dio Sabbath eras, this is quite different. Tony Martin reminds me of a rockier Graham Bonnet and with Cozy Powell, who is great on drums and Tony Iommi beefing up the guitar section, it's a heavier version of the Graham Bonnet Rainbow era to me. I would give it 5 stars, it's slightly dated, but has a classic sound and which is also refreshing. Overall a really good listen. However, it is currently steep price wise due to availability and loses a star for value. Still cheaper than second hand vinyl and the CD is nicely packaged and has a bonus track.

Led Zeppelin-The Song Remains the Same (US IMPORT) VINYL NEW
12 January 2018
Better
This was the 4LP box set, HQ RTC half speed remastered recording and pressed in the US. It is 180g and high quality compared with the original 2 disc vinyl, which was pretty poor (and was also bettered by the original CD). The new remastered version has the expanded playlist, which is contains some great tracks. The only minor downsides are that Dazed and confused is split over two sides (should have cut most of the violin bow IMAO and left that for the film) and the atmospheric No Quarter loses a couple of minutes sadly. However, the quality is so much better and it's a very nice package. The US pressing plant in California is supposedly one of the best in the world and I've played all 8 sides and am very happy with my purchase. Note that EAN is 0081227994891, which you can look up on discogs.
Audio Technica AT-OC9ML/II moving coil cartridge

Moving to moving coil
My trusty Goldring 1042 started to sound not run and I knew it was over after the 1006 stylus sounded better. The 1042 is a great rock cartridge, so I was a bit worried changing it for a moving coil. The Audio Technica didn't disappoint however. I use a Thicord Dino 3 with Linn/Ittok II. Great detail, better sound vocals and instruments, more bite, fast dynamics, clarity and punch. Negatives, needs careful matching as won't suit an already bright system. Great for the money and a great and affordable way to go moving coil if you have an mc phono stage.
