    A Fast-paced Read
I bought this book because Kate Charles was coming to visit our Book Club and I wanted to have read one of her books. I ended up reading two others, DEAD MAN OUT OF MIND and EVIL ANGELS AMONG US. I enjoyed the fast moving pace and realistic characters. Learned a bit more about the Anglican Church than I needed to know. All in all great escape reading!

An amazing story of two women's courage and human spirit!
I ordered this book after reading "BOLD SPIRIT Helga Estby's Forgotten Walk Across America" by Linda Lawrence Hunt, a well researched true account that was so fascinating I thought the novel by author Jane Kirpatrick would be interesting. It was marvelous!I kept "BOLD SPIRIT" near by to refer to photos and newspaper clippings. This is the amazing story of a mother and her 19 year old daughter, Clara, who walked from Spokane, Washington to New York City in 1896 in order to win $10,000 to save the family farm! The courage and presistence of mother and daughter kept me entranced. The book is historically factual, the characters clearly drawn and believable, and one gets a great view into the lives of Norwegian immigrant communities of that era. An exceptional story! I think "THE DAUGHTER'S WALK" would be a good Book Club read along with BOLD SPIRIT. It would give each member time to reflect on their own journeys, family secrets and the importance forgiveness.
