Not enough good points to justify as an upgrade from the Xperia Arc
This was going to replace my Sony Ericsson Arc (LT15i) - The Arc replaced my X10 and it was a fantastic upgrade - so I expected something similar from the Arc to Xperia S, but it is falling short of what I expected... This is not a review of the phone but a comparison of the Arc and S: Holdability/One Hand Use: Arc is better to hold and use the thumb for navigate etc, whilst the Xperia S I cannot use one hand & thumb to operate. For example, Resuming the phone : Arc can resume on either pressing the power button, or the home button - I can use my thumb to hit the home button easily on the Arc, whilst the Xperia S you can only resume on hitting the power button = at the top of the phone!? Battery Life: Usage = both with me, no calls, no browsing, no bluetooth, but Wifi=On : Xperia S often shows a 15% warning by bed time, Arc = more than 50% by bedtime. I once did a recording test at a concert, Xperia S did not last 30 minutes, whilst the Arc recorded over 1 hour! Comparing the video output (image quality etc), they were both the same. Speed: Xperia S is quicker - deleting emails on Yahoo's app is much quicker whilst the Arc you have to wait a little bit (only a little, but it is noticeable) At the time of writing Ice Cream Sandwich is still not available for the Xperia S, a sad sad decision by some executive at Sony not to have it's flagship phone have the latest Android OS ASAP, whilst they release ICS to 2011 phones (yes, I have the option to upgrade my Arc to ICS right now! - silly eh?) It's almost 6 months since they announced this phone and no ICS, whilst Samsung S3 was announced a few weeks back and it is now on sale!? Overall, I think I might sell the Xperia S and finally stop buying Sony... Sad sad Sony, start making better decisions to stop making losses every year (for the past 4 years)...
