Great Lens for Price
3 of 3 found this helpful I'm trying out bird photography, and I wanted to get a lens that would allow me to get some experience before I commit to something far more expensive. I chose this lens because of its low price and generally favorable reviews. So far, I've been very happy with my purchase.
I've used the lens to shoot birds in my yard and some nearby parks. The photos are very sharp during bright daylight, although there is definitely some chromatic aberration on high contrast subjects at a distance. The lens starts to struggle as the light falls off, but that's no surprise.
On my Nikon D90, I've got some great, printable photos of ducks within 100 feet, and of songbirds within 15-20 feet.
I definitely recommend this lens to amateurs and enthusiasts looking for an inexpensive, introductory telephoto option.
