Replacement part

Stands up to the Motorola name
Prior to purchase of this radio I was using a Kenwood. Very inexpensive radio thus you only get what you pay for. Kenwood was light but built so poorly that I was afraid if you drop it the case would crack. Speaker microphone or radio speaker not very clear. Picked up a lot of RF when near certain types of electronic components. I had to get this radio for my job quickly and was short on cash to buy a Motorola.
This model of Motorola is great due to the display screen and the ability to name channels without guessing which one you are on. Has many features and options, some I use, some I may not but there if needed. As indicated in the review, it is not lightweight but I like it that way. Motorola can take abuse or accidental bumps or dropping where the Kenwood would not. The only problem I had with this radio (it was new in the box) it was manufactured to go to the Latin America Region which made programming difficult since the tech I knew had only the software for the North America Region. Although with much research he did find a fix and the radio is working fine. I had no idea about this manufacturing region issue since I did buy it in the U.S. Explained to me that surplus buyers may not always know where the radio was originally headed, thus I do not blame the seller. I highly recommend this radio if it fits your frequency and network specs. Only recommendation I have if buying from a surplus seller, try to find out if they know the region the radio was manufactured for. It will make things a lot easier when finding a tech to program.

3 of 3 found this helpful Great value if it really is for a lifetime. Like all the features of the product but expected Outlook Mail to be part of the computer and not have to sign into a website. Liked the older versions of Outlook where it was installed on the computer only and not tied to an internet website. But that is OK I will find another mail program for that. Otherwise no complaints.
