Quality Product for a ZX6R
I bought this part with some trepidation wondering how it could compete with an OEM part.
It arrived 6 days form the time I placed the order in good sturdy packing. But then dismay, it has around 10 fewer horizontal cooling fins than the Kawasaki radiator and the webbing in between was wider spaced. However having taken the old radiator off I had to keep going.
The paint is a good thick black coating, and upon close inspection the product was completely coated with no missing patches. So I began by mounting the fan which fitted 2 of the mounting points and with a little bending of my fan's bracket I managed to attach the third. The original fan mounting clips didn't fit being designed for thinner metal but with some gentle reshaping with a hammer over a bit of 2mm scrap steel I re-sized them to fit. With the rubber and metal mountings the new assembly fitted perfectly on the bike. Having washed out and refilled the system with Halfords organic acid (silicate free) anti freeze, I was good to go. Well almost I forgot to tighten a jubilee clip DOH! So hoping nobody noticed I tightened it up bled the air bubbles out and refitted all the fairings, which takes longer than doing the radiator its self. A test run relieved all was OK, that really made my weekend. My personal opinion is that the Kawasaki part clogs up to easily and is hard to wash the grit out thus it becomes hopelessly inefficient. This product is better as the webbing is wider spaced so will clean more easily.
I have been keeping an eye on the temperature gauge over the past couple of weeks and I am seeing at least a 15 degree C improvement on average which is fantastic even in a 20 degree ambient. Bottom line a first class product so far, I will up date this write-up after its been through a Scottish winter. So don't pay Kawasaki for their over-priced parts, give one of these a go.
