Holden Commodore Cars

Holden is an Australian car manufacturer that is no longer in production, but still exists as a platform dealership for subsidiary brands and remaining Holden vehicles. The Commodore is their most popular vehicle. It is a sedan, available in both mid-size and full-size. The front engine, rear wheel drive vehicle has gone through five generations in its forty year life span.

Mid-Size vs. Full-Size

Full-size Commodore cars have much more space than their mid-size versions. Depending on the model, this can mean a two-door vehicle, rather than four door. Passenger space is smaller in mid-sized cars, so this can be a determining factor depending on the size of your family. Likewise, there will be less cargo space in mid-sized models. Another factor to consider is that full-sized cars generally fare better in safety tests. Although this varies depending on the model, full-size vehicles are more likely to have advanced safety features. Full-size vehicles also have a higher price tag to go along with the extra space.

Sedan

There is a reason Holden Commodore sedans have been a constant in their line; their quality make and reception precedes them. Drivers find the sedan comfortable, with a good amount of space for families in their full-size version. Newer models have desirable features, such as built in rear view camera kits and self-parking. However, they use more gas than other vehicles of its class, and they lack cruise control and fold down rear seats with access to the boot.

Station Wagon

Most of the newer Holden Commodore station wagons have a sporty look, almost like an extended cab hatchback. In 2010, Holden worked to improve fuel efficiency in its station wagons, along with modern styling and options like better car audio parts and accessories and Bluetooth capabilities. The rear seat area is large, making it a good choice for growing families.

Utility Vehicle

Also known as the Ute, Holden Commodore Utility Vehicles are a popular choice amongst Australians. Young people especially like the style and versatility of an Ute. Although known as a powerhorse, it drives smoothly, like a sedan. It has rear-wheel drive and is generally on the lightweight end. The extended cab allows people to transport bikes, motorbikes, dogs, jetskis, and so on, making it a practical choice, especially for hobbyists.
