How to use search

There are a variety of ways you can use our search functions to help you find exactly what you're looking for – and keep track of items once you've found them.

Whether you're browsing, looking for a specific item, or trying to track down a great seller you bought from in the past, we've got tools to help you. You'll find our search bar at the top of most eBay pages. Simply type in what you're looking for and we'll find you the most relevant items that match your search.

Here's an overview of the different ways you can search on eBay and how to keep track of items once you've found them.

You can use the filters on the left side of the search results page to help narrow down your search results – by item specifics (such as brand, colour and size), item condition (new, used, etc.), buying format (auction, Buy It Now, accepts offers), whether the seller accepts returns, and much more.

You can also filter for particular delivery options:

  • To find items with free postage, scroll down to the Delivery options filters and select Free postage.
  • To find items located in Australia, scroll down to the Item location filters and select Australia Only.
  • To find items with eBay Guaranteed Delivery, you can either use the toggle at the top right of the search results (for 3-day delivery), or scroll down to the Guaranteed Delivery filters and select your delivery timeframe of 1, 2, 3 or 4 days.
  • To find items available for Click & Collect, scroll down to the Delivery options filters and select Free Click & Collect.

Advanced search

While our standard search is a great starting point for finding what you need, you can use advanced search to find a specific item, category, member or eBay Store quickly and easily.

Saved searches

If you regularly search for the same types of items on eBay, you can save time by creating saved searches. They can help you keep track of items and we'll even send you email alerts when new items that match your search are listed.

Your Watch List

You can use your watch list to keep track of up to 200 items that you're interested in but aren't quite ready to bid on or buy. You can view the items saved to your watch list in My eBay, where you can also filter, remove and compare items. You can even set notifications so you know when listings you're watching are ending.
