Delivery date options for buyers

Deliveries may be delayed due to COVID-19. We've adjusted estimated delivery times onsite to take this into account, and to ensure our sellers have more time to fulfil your orders safely.

For more information on how we're supporting and protecting our community at this time, please read our article on Additional support during COVID-19 for buyers and sellers on eBay.

Estimated delivery dates let you know when you can expect an eBay item to arrive. Some items even offer a guaranteed delivery date.

If you need your item to arrive before a specific date, check the estimated delivery on the listing before you go to checkout. You can also search for items with eBay Guaranteed Delivery.

Where to find your estimated delivery date

You can find an estimated delivery date on any eBay listing that offers postage. The estimate will usually cover a range of days, but can get more precise after you confirm your delivery address during checkout. On items with eBay Guaranteed Delivery, you'll see a guaranteed delivery date instead of an estimated one.

After completing your purchase, you'll see an updated estimate in your Purchase history - opens in new window or tab along with any tracking information if it's been uploaded by your seller.

If you bought as a guest, your estimated delivery date will be in your order confirmation email.

How estimated delivery dates are calculated

Estimated delivery dates are based on:

  • Handling time – Sellers set their handling time based on how long it takes them to package the item and prepare it for posting. This can range from the same working day, to up to 30 business days from when they receive payment.
  • Postal or courier services – Most sellers offer a variety of delivery options, so you can choose the service you prefer when you're checking out. Delivery times can vary depending on which service is used.
  • Cleared payment – If you're using a payment method where the money isn't available to the seller immediately, such as a bank transfer, the seller may wait until the payment is in their account before they send your item.

If you need to get your item urgently, check to see if your seller offers an express delivery option.

Weekend delivery

Whether an item can be delivered during the weekend depends on the postage options provided by the seller. An item's estimated delivery date is based on working days, so weekends and public holidays aren't included in that calculation.

If the seller doesn't offer weekend delivery, you can contact them to ask if it's possible. If the seller agrees to your request, you may have to pay extra postage.

You'll see a more precise estimated delivery date after you confirm your postage option and delivery address during checkout.
