Expected delivery dates for buyers

Expected delivery dates let you know when you can expect an eBay item to arrive.

If you need your item to arrive before a specific date, check the expected delivery dates on the listing before you go to checkout.

Where to find the expected delivery date

You can find an expected delivery date on any eBay listing that offers postage. This is usually an estimated day or date range, and it can get more precise after you confirm your delivery method and address during checkout.

After completing your purchase, you'll see an updated date in your Purchase history - opens in new window or tab along with any tracking information if it's been uploaded by your seller.

If you bought as a guest, the expected delivery date will be in your order confirmation email.

How expected delivery dates are calculated

Expected delivery dates are calculated by eBay and can vary based on:

  • Past performance – We'll take into account how quickly this seller's orders have arrived to other buyers in the past, based on tracking data
  • Postage or courier service – The service you choose at checkout, and how quickly items are normally delivered with that service
  • Handling time and when you order – Sellers specify how long it takes them to package the item and prepare it for posting. This can range from the same working day, to up to 30 business days from when the order was placed. If you order late in the day or over the weekend, handling may take a little longer
  • Item location and delivery address – We'll take into account how far the item has to travel overall (including any international postage), and whether delivery is to a metro or rural area

Tip
If you're an eBay Plus member, you get free express delivery to metro addresses - opens in new window or tab on eBay Plus items.

Weekend delivery

Whether an item can be delivered during the weekend depends on the postage options provided by the seller. An item's expected delivery date is based on working days, so weekends and public holidays aren't included in that calculation.

If the seller doesn't offer weekend delivery, you can contact them to ask if it's possible. If the seller agrees to your request, you may have to pay extra postage.

Free delivery

If you see a free delivery message in a listing, you can expect to receive your item within 4 business days and you won't be charged for delivery. You'll see free 1-, 2-, 3- or 4-day delivery in the listing, as well as the date you can expect to get your order by.

You'll see a more precise expected delivery date after you select your preferred postage option and confirm your delivery address during checkout.
