Reverse Osmosis Water Filters

Filter out the nasty intruders and enjoy healthy drinking water every day by installing a reverse osmosis water filter in your home. Purified water provides an important 'rinsing treatment' to hydrate us, prevent impurities from entering our bodies and rinse out inorganic mineral deposits such as calcium, iron, magnesium carbonate and lime compounds. That means much safer water in your glass, as well as in the juices and smoothies you make with your countertop blender or handheld blender.

How do they work?

These water filters use advanced reverse osmosis technology to provide better quality water for your regular consumption. The systems are designed to remove fluoride, bacteria, suspended particulate, colloidal and high molecular-weight contaminants and other dissolved matter from running source water, so your household or office will drink only premium water.

The stages of filtration

Water is purified by undergoing 5, 6 or 7 stages of filtration, depending on the model you choose to buy. For example, a standard 6-stage unit takes the water through the following processes: a sediment filter for dirt, rust and algae; a granulated active carbon filter to remove chemicals, chlorine, bad taste and odour; a carbon block filter; the RO membrane (the core of the system) to remove up to 98% of impurities; the inline carbon post-filters; and finally the aluminate and mineralised cartridge, an important polishing stage before consumption. A 7-stage filter adds an alkalizing filter layer for pH adjustment.

What is included?

Your reverse osmosis water filter package will comprise all necessary cartridges and filters including the RO membrane filter, tubes and fittings, a pressure tank and possibly accessories such as cartridge wrenches, screws and a drain clamp. Some units come with a water pump, however this is generally not required when water pressure is above 35 psi or 240kpa. These units are relatively easy to assemble, mount and connect to the pipework.
