      Fees for selling a vehicle

The fees for listing and selling a vehicle are different to those in other categories. If you're eligible for free selling, you'll only pay fees for optional listing upgrades.

The fees on this page apply to listings within Vehicles categories.
For other items, including vehicle parts and accessories, please see the appropriate page below for applicable fees:

This page was updated on 15 June 2026 with updated fee terms for sellers who are not meeting seller performance requirements. From 1 August 2026, sellers who are evaluated as not meeting our requirements for four or more consecutive months will be charged a higher fee.

Fees when listing and selling a vehicle

If you're eligible for free selling on eBay.com.au, you won't pay fees for listing and selling in Vehicle categories (within Cars, Bikes, Boats), except when using optional listing upgrades.

For all other sellers, including Pro sellers and sellers with a registration address outside Australia, the amount we charge for vehicle listings depends on the listing format and optional upgrades you choose.

      When fees are charged:

      • Applicable listing fees and optional upgrade fees are charged at the time of listing and each time an item is relisted or renewed. You'll be able to review any applicable fees on the listing form before submitting your listing.
      • Listing and optional upgrade fees are non-refundable, even if your item doesn't sell or you remove the upgrade from your listing.
      • Transaction fees (if applicable) are charged when your vehicle sells or if you offer or reference your contact information to another user or ask a buyer for their contact information, in the context of buying or selling outside of eBay.

      Other terms and conditions

We always want to make sure we're clear about what you'll pay when selling on eBay, so here are some details you should be aware of:

      Billing and payment

      • Most fees and selling costs will be automatically deducted from your sales proceeds prior to payout. Details of the fees or costs will be on your Financial statement.
      • If the buyer receives a refund or you cancel a sale, you may be eligible for fee credits.
      • If your funds on eBay are insufficient to cover your selling costs, we'll charge the payment method saved on file or otherwise collect fees and selling costs from you as set out in the Payments Terms of Use - opens in new window or tab. If your payment method fails or your account is overdue, we reserve the right to limit or suspend the services which we provide to you.
      • In addition to the eBay fees described on this page, you'll also be charged for:

      Goods and Services Tax (GST)

      • If your registered address is in Australia, Australian GST of 10% is payable on your eBay fees. Unless you provided eBay with your ABN and registered for tax exempt status - opens in new window or tab, we'll charge your eBay fees inclusive of GST, as displayed on this page.
      • If you live outside Australia, depending on the tax legislation of your country or region of residency, local Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT) or similar consumption tax might apply, instead of Australian GST.
      • Details of any tax charged on your seller fees will be on your monthly invoice.
      • For more information about how tax may apply when buying and selling on eBay, please refer to our Tax policy.
      Other terms
      • Listing and optional upgrade fee amounts are based on the terms in effect when a listing goes live and when it renews. Any applicable transaction fees for your listings are based on the terms in effect at the time of the sale.
      • The fees on this page apply to listings on eBay.com.au. If you list an item directly on another eBay site (e.g. eBay.com or eBay.co.uk), the fees for that site will apply.
      • All fees are in Australian dollars, unless otherwise stated.
      • There may be instances when your listing doesn't appear in search results until several hours after you've created it. eBay can't guarantee exact listing durations.
      • We may place third-party advertisements on any web page within our site.
