Promotions Manager

Promotions Manager provides eBay Store subscribers with an easy way to set up special offers on eBay. Promotions can help you attract more buyers, clear old stock, increase average order size, and even lower postage costs by bundling more items per order.

You can set up four different types of special offers using Promotions Manager:

  • Order discounts – Offer discounts based on order size, or the amount spent by a buyer. You can also create promotions such as a percentage off an additional item, or buy one get one free
  • Codeless coupons – Offer exclusive discounts to buyer groups of your choosing by using a virtual voucher
  • Promotional postage – Offer cheaper postage on items that qualify for your offer
  • Sales events – Reduce prices for selected items or categories

Using Promotions Manager

For items to be eligible for Promotions Manager, your listing must:

  • Offer PayPal as a payment method
  • Be fixed price format with Buy It Now pricing

Items will appear at the advertised price, and the discount will be applied in your buyer's shopping cart.

You can access Promotions Manager from the Marketing tab of Seller Hub - opens in new window or tab.

If you don't use Seller Hub, you can find Promotions Manager in the Account - opens in new window or tab section of My eBay, under Marketing Tools.

Promotions Manager is also available via Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro by selecting Marketing Tools, and then Promotions Manager.

Creating promotions

When creating a special offer, Promotions Manager will take you through the following steps:

  1. Defining your objective – Promotions Manager suggests objectives for your campaigns, such as Introduce new items or Capture seasonal traffic.
  2. Setting offer details – The tool allows you to pick the type of offer you'd like to run, based on your objective. For example, if you selected Introduce new items, Promotions Manager will provide you with set special offers to choose from, such as Buy one, get one free.
  3. Adding items – You can manually add up to 500 items from your inventory to your offer. You can also create rules so new items are added to the special offer automatically.

Once you've completed these steps and you're happy with the details, select Launch or Save for later if you';d like to run your campaign at a later date.

Markdown Manager

Markdown Manager is an additional tool also available in Promotions Manager. It allows sellers with Stores to offer price discounts or free shipping discounts on both fixed price and auction listings.

With Markdown Manager, sellers can:

  • Add discounts to specific listings, in certain categories, or across all your store inventory or Fixed Price listings
  • Add free shipping to Fixed Price listings or auctions (as long as there are no bids)
  • Manage and schedule your sales easily
  • Send an email to your mailing lists to promote your sale

Use promotions to help you attract more buyers, clear old stock, increase average order size, and lower postage costs.

To create a sale in Markdown Manager:

  1. Select My eBay at the top of any eBay page.
  2. Select the Account - opens in new window or tab tab, then hover your cursor over the tab until you see the dropdown menu.
  3. Select Marketing Tools.
  4. Choose Markdown Manager and Create Sale.
  5. Enter the required information.

Once you've created a sale, we'll send you an email to confirm.

To end or delete a sale:

  1. Select My eBay at the top of any eBay page.
  2. Move your cursor over the Account tab until you see the dropdown menu.
  3. Select Marketing Tools, then Marketdown Manager.
  4. Choose the name of the sale that you want to end or delete.
  5. Select Clear Listings.

You can create special offers ranging from 'buy one get one free' to discounted postage using Promotions Manager.
