JVC Home Video Projector

The home video projector can trace its roots back to the slide projectors that were popular in homes and classrooms in the 1950s and 1960s. While those were only good for showing off pictures, such as vacation slides, today's home video projectors can do so much more and work with many other devices in your home, such as your home entertainment system and stereo. Many projectors, including JVC home video projectors, make it possible to view all forms of media, such as photos, movies, videos and documents, through its lens.

How does a home video projector work?

Similar to what is used in movie theatres, home theatre projectors take images and cast them onto a vertical surface several feet away from it, such as a home theatre screen or even a wall. Most of them do this through front projection, where the light is behind the viewer and the images are cast in front of them. Essential things to look for when buying a project include:

  • How much ambient light there is in the room
  • The type of image quality the projector offers
  • The native aspect ratio of the projector

For example, if the room is a dedicated home theatre, there will be little ambient light and the projector should have a lumen count of at least 1,000. For spaces with a great deal of ambient light, the lumens should be at least 3,000 or more. There are two basic image quality offerings with home video projectors, which are wide XGA (1280x800 pixels) and full HD (1920x1080 pixels). Most home theatre projectors have a native aspect of 16:9 but some including many JVC home video projectors will also offer 4:3 and 16:10 proportions as well.

What are some of the features of JVC home video projectors?

Many JVC home video projectors offer 3-D viewing and come in full HD, including in 3-D. Most JVC projectors have a lumen count that ranges between 1,500 and 2,000 lumens. When used in low mode, the brand's projectors offer lamp life of around 4,500 hours.

What type of accessories are needed for a JVC home video projector?

If you use your JVC video projector often, at some point you will need to replace its lamp. Make sure to choose the lamp for your specific model of JVC home video projector. If you have other devices in your home or business that use an IR signal and want to prevent any possible signal interruption with the video coming from your D-ILA projector, you need an RF type 3-D synchro emitter to achieve this. You will also need a few pairs of RF type 3-D glasses so viewers can enjoy all of the 3-D effects.
