What is the Difference Between These Recreational Vehicles?

While they share similarities in their general purpose and build, quad bikes, buggies and trikes are quite different in various ways, like:

  • Quad Bikes: Also known as all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), quads are bikes with four wheels and controlled by handlebars that are are designed for off-road surfaces.
  • Buggies: Somewhat similar to ATVs, buggies are off-road vehicles with a seat more like that of a car and often have doors, windscreen and roll-cage.
  • Drift Trikes: With a design more similar to motorcycles and bicycles, trikes are three wheeled vehicles, while drift trikes are tricycles that are able to drift on surfaces.

  • Four-Stroke Engines: Quad bikes often feature an air-cooled four-stroke engine of varying power levels.
  • Brakes: Quad bikes can feature both front and rear brakes providing greater stability and superior stopping power.
