Products with eligibility requirements policy

Certain products are restricted to sellers who have pre-approval or meet selling requirements.

This policy was updated on 18 December 2023. Our policy guidelines have not changed, but the information about activity that doesn't follow this policy has been updated for clarity.

What is the policy?

eBay restricts the sale of some products to sellers who have met certain eligibility criteria. In addition to the requirements set out below, eBay may request further information before providing approval. Approval to list these products will be at eBay's absolute discretion.

Products requiring approval to list

Some products may be sold only by sellers who meet some or all of the following requirements:

  • Seller has an established history of active selling for at least 90 days, with 100 or more transactions and $1,000 or more in sales in the last 12 months
  • Seller maintains a track record of delivering positive buying experiences, including an account that is Above Standard or Top Rated
  • Seller complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and eBay policies
  • Seller does not engage in high-risk activities. Examples of high-risk activities include not delivering items or delivering items late

Sellers may need to meet requirements similar to those above, as well as providing us with details about their business, in order to sell the following products:

Products requiring additional approval

The products listed below may have additional pre-approval requirements, including but not limited to:

  • Documentation to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Registration as a business that is located domestically
  • Shipment of items domestically
  • Use of age verification of the buyer and/or recipient of the shipment

Ensure you have set up a business account - opens in new window or tab on eBay and that all of your registration details are up to date, including your Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN). If you are not approved to sell and had an item either blocked or removed, please do not relist it.

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn't, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.
