      Selling to benefit charitable organisations

There are two options to fundraise for charity on eBay.com.au:

      • Charity accounts: Registered charities can set up a business account - opens in new window or tab on eBay to start selling straight away. You'll need to comply with the rules for charity listings set out below. Learn more about registering as a seller and creating a listing
      • Community selling: Individuals can fundraise by selling items on eBay and donating the proceeds to their chosen charity. You'll need to have the organisation's written consent in advance. After the item has sold, you'll need to transfer the money to the charity using your chosen payment method. Individual sellers are responsible for any applicable selling fees when listing for charity

      Rules for charity listings

Charitable fundraising is a highly regulated area. Whether you're selling as an individual or as a registered charity, you'll need to include certain information in your listing. Please be sure to read our eBay.com.au Charity and fundraising policy for more information and guidelines.

You'll also need to comply with all other eBay rules and policies, including listing policies and our rules about prohibited and restricted items. Please note that we don't allow listings that sell an opportunity to win an item or prize – read our Chance listings policy for more information.

      Fees for registered charities

Selling is free for Australia-based sellers without a Pro plan, including registered charities. You can also choose to sell with an eBay Pro plan - opens in new window or tab to access expanded selling options – including a branded store, advanced tools for managing listings, and additional postage and payout options. If your total sales on eBay in the past 12 full calendar months is over AU $25,000, you'll be automatically upgraded to our Pro Starter plan. This plan has no monthly subscription cost. Learn more about free selling and becoming a Pro seller.

For registered charities selling with a Pro plan, we provide a significant discount on transaction fees. Regardless of which category you sell in, you'll pay a variable final value fee of just 1.1% (incl. GST) of the total sale amount per item (item price + postage + any applicable tax), plus a fixed charge per order.

Charities are responsible for all other fees and selling costs associated with their accounts, including but not limited to any subscription costs (for Pro Basic, Featured or Anchor plans), optional listing upgrades, fees for international sales, and shipping labels. For more help with fees, see our eBay fees overview.

Here's how to apply for reduced transaction as a registered charity selling with a Pro plan:

      1. If you haven't already, create a business account - opens in new window or tab on eBay, then test your account by listing and selling your first item.
      2. If you aren't yet a Pro seller, subscribe to a Pro plan - opens in new window or tab
      3. Fill out and submit an application form - opens in new window or tab.
      4. Validate your charity's details - opens in new window or tab via our partner, Techsoup.

Australian charities can qualify for free or discounted selling fees. Charity fundraising is highly regulated, so ensure you include all the required information in your listings. If you're selling to fundraise on behalf of a charity, ensure you have their written permission in advance.
