Check the listing to find out your options for buying the vehicle or item. You might be able to bid, use the Buy It Now option to buy it at a fixed price, or make the seller a Best Offer. Vehicles may also be listed as a Classified Ad.

Before you buy, plan to spend some time researching the type of vehicle and options you need.

You'll find detailed information about each vehicle on eBay, and many have a vehicle history report available. Make sure you carefully read the seller's description.

Here are some additional tips to help you evaluate a listing:

• Check Auto Trader - opens in new window or tab before you decide what you're willing to pay.
• Be realistic in your expectations of used or older vehicles – expect normal "wear and tear".
• Personally visit or have a vehicle inspection service - opens in new window or tab visit the vehicle to ensure accurate representation.

Consider not only the cost of the vehicle, but also insurance, registration and taxes.

• Make sure you've read the listing carefully, and consider getting a vehicle inspection before you buy.
• Use extra caution if an item is listed significantly below the suggested retail price.
• Check the seller's Feedback rating, and contact the seller with any questions. Don't place a bid or buy if the seller doesn't respond to your questions, or can't be reached by email or phone.

Here's how to find compatible parts:

1. Go to the Motors section of eBay.
2. Add a vehicle by selecting your vehicle's make, model, year, submodel, variant and engine.
3. Search for parts that fit by entering keywords such as product or brand name.

You can also add your vehicle to "My Garage" so you don't have to re-enter its details the next time you need a part.

Follow these steps to add a vehicle:

1. Go to the Motors section of eBay.
2. Under My Garage - opens in new window or tab, select Add a vehicle.
3. Add your vehicle by selecting the make, model, year, submodel, variant and engine.
4. Next time you want to find parts, select your saved vehicle in My Garage - opens in new window or tab to search for parts that fit.

As always when buying on eBay, make sure you check the seller's item description, postage options and returns policies. Listings will also indicate whether the item qualifies for eBay Plus, or whether Click & Collect is available.
