eBay Pro is coming soon
The updated fees and terms below apply once we notify you that your eBay Pro plan is active.
- If you have a current eBay Store subscription on eBay.com.au (Basic, Featured or Anchor Store), it will be moved to the equivalent eBay Pro plan (Pro Basic, Pro Featured or Pro Anchor) and there are no changes to the fees you'll pay.
- Please note that if you don't currently have an eBay Store subscription but your registered address is in Australia and your total sales in the past 12 months is more than AU $25,000, you'll be automatically upgraded to a Pro Starter plan as your default selling experience. There are no changes to the fees you'll pay, as this plan has no monthly cost and the same transaction fees as you pay today when selling without an eBay Store.
- Pro sellers and sellers who reside outside Australia will not be eligible for free selling.
Learn more about our new eBay Pro Starter plan experience and eBay Pro subscriptions - opens in new window or tab.
Fees on this page are now displayed inclusive of Australian GST. If you have registered for tax exempt status - opens in new window or tab with eBay, we won't apply GST to your eBay fees.
Fees are charged at a different rate if you sell without a Pro plan, or if you want to sell vehicles. Read our articles on:
This page was updated on 27 March 2026 with new fee terms. Our previous eBay Stores fees for registered businesses and previous eBay Stores selling fees continue to apply until we confirm that your eBay Pro plan is active.
There are no monthly fees associated with a Pro Starter plan. A monthly subscription cost applies to Pro Basic, Pro Featured and Pro Anchor plans.
When selling with an eBay Pro plan, you'll pay transaction fees (final value fees) when your items sell. The amount you're charged depends on your Pro plan. We won't generally charge a fee to list an item, unless you choose a listing upgrade feature.
Most fees and other selling costs, such as postage costs for labels you buy on eBay and refunds to buyers, are deducted from your sales proceeds before your payout is initiated. Learn more about how fees and selling costs are charged.
About selling with eBay Pro
An eBay Pro plan gives you access to expanded selling options, as well as advanced tools to manage and promote your listings.
Benefits of an eBay Pro plan on eBay.com.au include:
- More flexible postage options – access our discounted rates when you buy labels on eBay, or use your own carrier and specify costs on your listings accordingly
- Access to scheduled payouts
- A customisable store and a unique URL that you can use in your marketing
- Tools for bulk selling, including access to multi-quantity listings, bulk listing tools and product research tools
- If you subscribe to a Pro Basic, Featured or Anchor plan, you'll pay lower transaction fees (final value fees) compared to a Pro Starter plan and have access to volume pricing, Discounts Manager and third-party integrations
For full details of what's included in each plan, see our eBay Pro - opens in new window or tab page in the Seller Centre.
Auto-upgrade to Pro Starter experience
The fees for the Pro Starter plan can also apply to you if you haven't subscribed to an eBay Pro subscription but you're upgraded to the Pro Starter plan as your default selling experience based on your annual sales. This plan has no monthly subscription cost.
Each month, we calculate your total sales on eBay using data from the preceding 12 full calendar months. For example, the calculation in August is based on sales from the previous 1 August – 31 July. We add up your sales across all eBay sites, using the total amount of each sale (including the item price, postage and any applicable tax).
- If your total sales is over AU $25,000 and you don't have a Pro plan, we'll notify you on the 20th of the month before upgrading you to a Pro Starter plan from the 1st of the following month. You'll have access to the features available in the Pro starter plan (e.g. expanded postage and payout options), and the selling fees for the Pro Starter plan on this page will apply.
- If your total sales is AU $25,000 or less and you currently have a Pro plan, you'll have the option to cancel your plan and move to our free selling experience. The cancellation takes effect on the 1st of the following month. You'll continue to pay transaction fees until then if your items sell.
- If your total sales is AU $25,000 or less and you don't have a Pro plan, you're eligible to continue in our free selling experience but you can manually subscribe to a Pro plan to access expanded selling options.

Listing fees and optional listing upgrade fees
All sellers get 250,000 free listings per month on eBay.com.au, but some limits and exclusions apply. Optional listing upgrades, like adding a subtitle, can help to attract more buyers.
You'll be able to review any applicable fees on the listing form before submitting your listing. Listing and optional upgrade fees are non-refundable, even if your item doesn't sell or you remove the upgrade from your listing.

- Fixed price listings are "Good 'Til Cancelled" – they renew automatically once per month unless all of the items sell, you end the listing, or the listing violates an eBay policy. Any applicable listing fees or optional upgrade fees are charged for the original listing and once per month after that.
- If you choose to manually relist your item, listing and optional upgrade fees apply again.
Transaction fees
Transaction fees apply when an item is sold and include a variable final value fee, plus a fixed charge per order. The final value fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale per item (which includes the item price, postage and handling charges, and any tax or other applicable fees).
Final value fee percentages vary depending on the sale price, listing category and your eBay Pro plan. If the total amount of the sale is over $4,000 you'll pay a lower percentage for the portion of the sale price above $4,000.

For items that have been listed in two categories, the higher of the two final value fees will be charged.
When calculating the total amount of the sale per item:
- The item price is defined as the winning bid, the Buy It Now price or the offer price agreed between the buyer and seller, and does not include the value of any eBay voucher, coupon or discount offer applied by the buyer at checkout.
- Postage includes postage charges, handling fees and any additional services paid for by the buyer (e.g. Signature on Delivery).
- An order is defined as any number of items purchased by the same buyer at checkout with the same delivery method.
- If the buyer redeems a coded coupon provided by the seller of the item, the final value fee will be calculated based on the discounted total sale amount.
Here are a couple of examples to illustrate how transaction fees are calculated.

If your item doesn't sell, you usually don't pay transaction fees. However, if you offer or reference your contact information to another user or ask a buyer for their contact information, in the context of buying or selling outside of eBay, we charge a final value fee for introducing you to the buyer. In this case, the final value fee is based on the higher of the fixed price, auction start price, Buy It Now price (if different to the auction start price), reserve price (if applicable) or the price identified between the buyer and seller.
Fees for not meeting seller performance requirements
Additional fees will apply to your sales in the following circumstances:
- When your seller performance is evaluated as Below Standard: If your seller evaluation on the 20th of a month shows that you are not meeting our minimum performance standards, you'll be charged a fee of 5.5% (incl. GST) for items sold in all categories during the following calendar month
- When your rate of 'Item not as described' returns is Very High: If your service metrics evaluation on the 20th of a month indicates that your rate of 'Item not as described' returns is Very High in one or more categories compared to your peers, you'll be charged a fee of 5.5% (incl. GST) for items sold in those categories during the following calendar month
These fees are calculated on the total amount of the sale and are automatically deducted from your sales proceeds. The total amount of the sale includes the item price, postage and handling charges, and any tax or other applicable fees. We'll indicate which listings are subject to an additional fee on your Seller account - opens in new window or tab.
You can review your performance metrics and status at any time in your Seller standards dashboard - opens in new window or tab and Service metrics dashboard - opens in new window or tab.
Note: If your account is Below Standard and you're rated Very High in your rate of 'Item not as described' return requests, you'll only be charged the additional fee for Below Standard.
Learn more about our Seller standards policy and Service metrics policy.
International sales fee
If your registered address is in Australia, we charge an international sales fee of 1.1% (incl. GST) if the delivery address for the item (entered by the buyer during checkout) is outside Australia.
This fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale and is automatically deducted from your sales proceeds. The total amount of the sale includes the item price, postage and handling charges, and any tax or other applicable fees.
If you don't want international buyers to purchase your items, you can learn how to exclude international delivery locations in our International selling policy.
If your registered address is not in Australia, please refer to the fee page for your country or region of residence for your international sales fee information.
Dispute fees
If you're found responsible for a chargeback or other disputed amount as per our policies, we charge a dispute fee of $24.20 (incl. GST) for each dispute.
Seller currency conversion charge
When you create listings or sell items on an international eBay site, eBay may convert your funds to a different currency in order to collect amounts owed by you to eBay, or to payout funds due to you.
For example, if your registered address is in Australia and you create a listing on eBay.de for which fees are due (such as insertion and/or optional listing upgrade fees), eBay will convert your funds from AUD to EUR using the transaction exchange rate applicable at the time of listing, in order to collect these fees. When the item sells on eBay.de, eBay will calculate your payout amount by converting the sales proceeds from EUR to AUD using the transaction exchange rate applicable at the time of the sale.
If eBay converts your funds, the conversion will be completed at the transaction exchange rate we set for the relevant currency exchange. eBay's transaction exchange rate is composed of a base exchange rate plus a conversion charge. The conversion charge is a fixed percentage applied to the base exchange rate and retained by eBay. The base exchange rate reflects rates within the wholesale currency markets applicable to the currency pairing on the day of the conversion, or the prior business day. If exchange rates are set by law or regulation, the base exchange rate reflects the government reference rates.
If your registered address is in Australia, the seller currency conversion charge applied and retained by eBay is 3% (excl. GST). If your registered address is not in Australia, please refer to the fee page for your country or region of residence for your seller currency conversion charge information.
Other terms and conditions
We always want to make sure we're clear about what you'll pay when selling on eBay, so here are some details you should be aware of:
Billing and payment
- Most fees and selling costs will be automatically deducted from your sales proceeds prior to payout. Details of the fees or costs will be on your Financial statement.
- If the buyer receives a refund or you cancel a sale, you may be eligible for fee credits.
- If your funds on eBay are insufficient to cover your selling costs, we'll charge the payment method saved on file or otherwise collect fees and selling costs from you as set out in the Payments Terms of Use - opens in new window or tab. If your payment method fails or your account is overdue, we reserve the right to limit or suspend the services which we provide to you.
- In addition to the eBay fees described on this page, you'll also be charged for:
Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- If your registered address is in Australia, Australian GST of 10% is payable on your eBay fees. Unless you provided eBay with your ABN and registered for tax exempt status - opens in new window or tab, we'll charge your eBay fees inclusive of GST, as displayed on this page.
- If you live outside Australia, depending on the tax legislation of your country or region of residency, local Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT) or similar consumption tax might apply, instead of Australian GST.
- Details of any tax charged on your seller fees will be on your monthly invoice.
- For more information about how tax may apply when buying and selling on eBay, please refer to our Tax policy.
Other terms
- Listing and optional upgrade fee amounts are based on the terms in effect when a listing goes live and when it renews. Transaction fees and international sales fees for your listings are based on the terms in effect at the time of the sale.
- The fees on this page apply to listings on eBay.com.au. If you list an item directly on another eBay site (e.g. eBay.com or eBay.co.uk), the fees for that site will apply.
- All fees are in Australian dollars, unless otherwise stated.
- There may be instances when your listing doesn't appear in search results until several hours after you've created it. eBay can't guarantee exact listing durations.
- We may place third-party advertisements on any web page within our site.

If your item doesn't sell, you usually don't pay a final value fee. However, if we determine that you may have completed a sale outside of eBay, we'll charge a final value fee for introducing you to the buyer.
If you refund a buyer or cancel a sale, you may be eligible for fee credits.
Sellers not meeting performance expectations will be charged higher final value fees:
- If your seller evaluation on the 20th of a month shows that you are not meeting our minimum performance standards (i.e. 'Below Standard'), you'll be charged an additional 5% (excl. GST) on the total sale amount for items sold in all categories during the following calendar month.
- If your service metrics evaluation on the 20th of a month indicates that your rate of 'Item not as described' returns is Very High in one or more categories compared to your peers, you'll be charged an additional 5% (excl. GST) on the total sale amount for items sold in those categories during the following calendar month.
You can review your performance metrics and status at any time in your Seller standards dashboard - opens in new window or tab and Service metrics dashboard - opens in new window or tab.

- When you sell an item on eBay, the final value fee is calculated as a percentage of the total sale amount per item (item price + postage and handling charges + any applicable taxes), plus a fixed charge of $0.30 (excl. GST) per order.
- The item price is the winning bid (for auction-style listings), the Buy It Now price (for fixed price listings or auctions where the buyer chose a Buy It Now option), or the offer price (if the buyer and seller agree on a price using Best Offer, or the buyer accepts an offer sent by a seller).
- The postage and handling charges include postage, handling fees and any additional services paid for by the buyer (e.g. Signature on Delivery).
- An order is defined as any number of items purchased by the same buyer at checkout with the same delivery method.
- If the buyer applies an eBay voucher, coupon or discount offer (whether funded by eBay, a seller, or both eBay and a seller) at checkout, the final value fee will be calculated based on the original total sale amount, not including the discount value.
- If the buyer redeems a coded coupon provided by the seller of the item, the final value fee will be calculated based on the discounted total sale amount.
- Final value fee percentages depend on the sale price, listing category and your eBay Store package, as well as your seller performance.
- When you list an item in two categories which have different final value fees, the higher final value fee will apply when your item sells.
- A different percentage is applied to the amount per item over $4,000 (e.g. if the category rate is 10.4%, the final value fee for a $5,000 item is calculated as 10.4% of $4,000 + 2.5% of $1,000 + $0.30).
- If your seller level is evaluated as Below Standard and/or your service metrics are evaluated as Very High, as described above, the variable portion of the final value fees is increased by 5 percentage points (e.g. a 6.6% + $0.30 final value fee would increase to 11.6% + $0.30). We'll indicate which listings are subject to the additional final value fee on your Seller account - opens in new window or tab
- If you offer or reference your contact information or ask a buyer for their contact information in the context of buying or selling outside of eBay, the final value fee is based on the total sale amount, which is determined as follows:
- Auction-style format: The "total sale amount" is the auction start price, the Buy It Now price (if applicable), the reserve price (if applicable), or the price identified between the buyer and seller, whichever is highest.
- Fixed price format: The "total sale amount" is the fixed price or the price identified between the buyer and seller, whichever is highest.
- If the buyer receives a refund, you may be eligible for fee credits.
Final value fee example – seller performance
This example illustrates how final value fees are affected by your seller performance.
If your seller performance level is evaluated as Below Standard, a higher variable final value fee will apply to all your sales.
If your seller level is Above Standard or Top Rated but your 'Item not as described' return rate is evaluated as Very High in one or more categories in your service metrics, a higher variable final value fee will apply to sales in those categories only.

Fees for Classified Ad listings
In a couple of categories, you can list using our Classified Ad format. In this format, we'll charge an insertion fee when you create your listing. We'll only charge a final value fee if you list with a Best Offer option and the item sells via Best Offer.

Charges for ads and supplemental services
These additional charges may apply to your selling activity:
Dispute fees
When you are found responsible for a chargeback or other disputed amount as per eBay's policies, we charge a dispute fee of $22 (excl. GST) for each dispute.
International sales fee
If your registered address is in Australia, you pay an international sales fee when the delivery location for the item (entered by the buyer during checkout) is outside Australia.
This fee is calculated as 1% (excl. GST) of the total sale amount (including postage and handling, and any tax or other applicable fees) and is automatically deducted from your sales proceeds.
If your registered address is not in Australia, please refer to the fee page for your country or region of residence for your international sales fee information.
Additional terms and conditions for eBay fees
Billing and payment
- Most fees and selling costs will be automatically deducted from your sales proceeds prior to payout. Details of the fees or costs will be on your Financial statement.
- If your funds awaiting payout are insufficient to cover your selling costs, we'll charge the payment method you've set up on your seller account or otherwise collect fees and selling costs from you as set out in the Payments Terms of Use - opens in new window or tab.
Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- If your registered address is in Australia, Australian GST of 10% is payable on your eBay fees. Unless you provided eBay with your ABN and registered for tax exempt status - opens in new window or tab, we'll charge your eBay fees inclusive of GST.
