eBay may apply additional charges in some circumstances based on your selling activity (such as international sales), as well as your seller performance level and service metrics.
The fees on this page apply if you don't have an eBay Store.

When you list your item, you can select features that require an additional fee, but may help your listing stand out and attract more buyers.
If fees apply when listing your item, you'll be able to review these on the listing form before submitting your listing.
*Limits and exclusions apply; please read our Full terms for fees when listing an item section below.

Fees when you sell your item
You pay one final value fee for items you sell on eBay, with no third-party payment processing fees.
The final value fee is calculated as a percentage of the total sale amount per item (item price + postage and handling charges + any applicable taxes), plus a fixed charge per order.
Standard final value fees on eBay.com.au
Fee type/category | Final value fee (incl. GST) |
Fixed fee – all categories Applies to all transactions, in addition to fees below |
$0.30 per order |
Variable fee – most categories Calculated per item, based on the total amount of the sale (including postage and handling, and any applicable taxes) |
13.4% of the sale amount up to $4,000 plus 2.5% of the sale amount over $4,000 |
Variable fee - Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) category | 5.5% of the total sale amount |
Fixed fee – Services category | $44.00 |
If your item doesn't sell, you usually don't pay a final value fee. However, if we determine that you may have completed a sale outside of eBay, we'll charge a final value fee for introducing you to the buyer.
If you refund a buyer or cancel a sale, you may be eligible for fee credits.
Sellers not meeting performance expectations will be charged higher final value fees:
- If your seller evaluation on the 20th of a month shows that you are not meeting our minimum performance standards (i.e. 'Below Standard'), you'll be charged an additional 5.5% (incl. GST) on the total sale amount for items sold in all categories during the following calendar month.
- If your service metrics evaluation on the 20th of a month indicates that your rate of 'Item not as described' returns is Very High in one or more categories compared to your peers, you'll be charged an additional 5.5% (incl. GST) on the total sale amount for items sold in those categories during the following calendar month.
You can review your performance metrics and status at any time in your Seller standards dashboard - opens in new window or tab and Service metrics dashboard - opens in new window or tab.

Charges for ads and supplemental services
These additional charges may apply to your selling activity:
- Ad fees, if you choose to use one of our options to promote your listings
- Charges for postage costs when you buy eBay postage labels
- Charges for postage costs when a buyer uses an eBay return postage label - opens in new window or tab to return an item
- Reimbursements when eBay refunds one of your buyers under eBay Money Back Guarantee or in relation to a payment dispute
- Charges for services offered on eBay by third parties, if you choose to use them.
Dispute fees
When you are found responsible for a chargeback or other disputed amount as per eBay's policies, we charge a dispute fee of $24.20 (incl. GST) for each dispute.
International sales fee
If your registered address is in Australia, you pay an international sales fee when the delivery location for the item (entered by the buyer during checkout) is outside Australia.
This fee is calculated as 1.1% (incl. GST) of the total sale amount (including postage and handling, and any tax or other applicable fees) and is automatically deducted from your sales proceeds.
If your registered address is not in Australia, please refer to the fee page for your country or region of residence for your international sales fee information.
Seller currency conversion charge
When you create listings or sell items on an international eBay site, eBay may convert your funds to a different currency in order to collect amounts owed by you to eBay, or to payout funds due to you.
For example, if your registered address is in Australia and you create a listing on eBay.de for which fees are due (such as insertion and/or optional listing upgrade fees), eBay will convert your funds from AUD to EUR using the transaction exchange rate applicable at the time of listing, in order to collect these fees. When the item sells on eBay.de, eBay will calculate your payout amount by converting the sales proceeds from EUR to AUD using the transaction exchange rate applicable at the time of the sale.
If eBay converts your funds, the conversion will be completed at the transaction exchange rate we set for the relevant currency exchange. eBay's transaction exchange rate is composed of a base exchange rate plus a conversion charge. The conversion charge is a fixed percentage applied to the base exchange rate and retained by eBay. The base exchange rate reflects rates within the wholesale currency markets applicable to the currency pairing on the day of the conversion, or the prior business day. If exchange rates are set by law or regulation, the base exchange rate reflects the government reference rates.
If your registered address is in Australia, the seller currency conversion charge applied and retained by eBay is 3.3% (incl. GST). If your registered address is not in Australia, please refer to the fee page for your country or region of residence for your seller currency conversion charge information.
