Choose a pre-owned condition

We've introduced more detailed conditions for pre-loved clothing. From 22 July 2025, we'll replace the current "Pre-owned" condition with three new conditions in pre-loved handbags and some accessory categories. On 22 July 2025 your existing listings will be automatically converted from "Pre-owned" to 'Pre-owned - Good'. You'll need to review and update your listings using the new conditions to ensure that you represent your items accurately.

  1. Pre-owned - Excellent

This item has been previously worn, however it is in excellent condition. Any signs of wear should be shown and described in the seller's listing.

  2. Pre-owned - Good

This item has been gently used but is in good condition. It might have a few signs of wear, but all imperfections should be shown and described in the seller's listing.

  3. Pre-owned - Fair

This item has significantly visible imperfections and signs of wear. All imperfections should be shown and described in the seller’s listing.

You can revise your listings from Selling Activity in My eBay or your Active listings in Seller Hub. You can also revise your listings in bulk using one of our bulk listing tools or within Seller Hub.

How to bulk edit in Seller Hub:

  1. Check the pre-filtered list of your items.
  2. Go to Seller Hub and sign in to your account.
  3. In the Listings tab, use the filters to narrow down your active listings by category: Footwear, Handbags, Watches, Jewellery.
  4. After filtering, select the listings you want to update and click the “Edit” button.
  5. Make bulk edits in the "Revise Listings" page.
  6. If you have a lot of edits to make, you may find it easier to reorder the columns so the required fields are on the same screen without scrolling. In the editing interface, select "Customise Columns" to reorder, add, or remove columns as needed.
  7. Once the "Condition" column is visible, choose the column header to sort your listings by item condition (e.g., New, Pre-Owned, etc.)

Selecting the correct item condition is your responsibility and crucial for your listings’ success. If the item condition is inaccurate, your listings might not appear in relevant search results, and you could experience increased returns or negative feedback from buyers, which can impact your seller standards.

If a buyer requests a return because the item condition wasn’t as expected, we will be offering some temporary protections for ‘item not as described’ return requests.

For sellers whose ‘item not as described’ rates in our service metrics policy are more impacted by the change, we will offer temporary protections to sellers in ‘Very High’. Please continue to handle any returns and resolve any open claims to avoid a ‘case closed without seller resolution.’
