Good Replacement/Work-around for USB failure
OEM item: It seems to be of original BB stock. The USB connection port has failed on
my Playbook.
Being able to re-charge this tablet is essential to its continuing usage, and viability.
To be clear:
Using 'Chrome' Browser allows for install of side-loaded apps. A backup is not possible
without a USB port, but a re-construction of PB's file contents using wifi is. It makes the
PB usable, again, for me. The QNX OS indigenous to PB is very solid, and because it is
'unpopular', it borders very close on being 'un-hackable', as well. Not worth their while.
Be gentle with it. Connect and disconnect carefully. It's not intended to be tossed around.
Be smart.
Again, this Docking Unit provides a re-charging possibility for Blackberry Playbooks. The
other function of my broken USB port is partially ameliorated using a wifi connection (see
Internet for How-To's) to transfer files. This Dock is simply a charger. It works well for that.
* FYI - the price on this product (including shipping) has essentially doubled since I bought
mine. I am not here to support that behavior. You may find it cheaper elsewhere. 10/25/15.Read full review...
