Setup & battery life

Setup through Bluetooth took minutes however going through the gateway took many attempts before it would connect t network and also to recognise my pool thermometer however once connected seems to work well , set readings to 5min to conserve power but still setting be fairly hard on batteries as after 2 weeks now 75% left. Good when it works, but mostly doesn't update temperature to the receiver

The first item I received stopped syncing after 1 day of use, for no obvious reasons. It then started showing random temperatures on the pool thermometer itself.
Inkbird official seller was happy to send me a replacement, which I've used for the past 1 month.

My verdict is that it is great when it is working. However, I am seeing the receiver unit show dashes "--" most of the time when I look at it, which means no data was received from the pool thermometer. If I take the pool thermometer out of the water, and the temperature changes, I see the blue light flash almost immediately, and the receiver is updated with the temperature.

I believe there might be some logic in the pool unit itself (possibly for battery saving reasons) whereby it will not send a signal if the temperature has not changed (or does not change much). Because my water temperature is fairly steady, this is resulting in a blank display on the receiver most of the time. Maybe if it just showed the most recently received temperature (and an indicator that it is out of date), that would solve the problem. Or the pool thermometer just needs to send regular updates.

Sadly, battery life is still poor, and the 2xAAA batteries were dry after 1 month use.

This is the only product on the market I've seen that comes close to delivering a wireless pool thermometer. The pool thermometer unit itself seems to be quite accurate. However, it is let down by poorly programmed logic, which essentially defeats the wireless capability.

Great price but still a waste of money...

Waste of money and excitement on its arrival. Despite methodically following the instructions, both parts of the device would not 'sync'. Gave up on that. Put the actual thermometer into the pool overnight and blank screen/ waterlogged the next morning despite being securely closed. Ultimately, the old adage: you pay for what you get is true here. I will now purchase an old school red alcohol thermometer without the tech but will hopefully do the job!Read full review...
