6 year owning a mixed reef tank has been a learning experience to say the very least.
Everyone that sells a product has an angle, many not so good. Pair that with the massive amount of poor to deliberate bad information online, and at many local pet stores you can run you many through a paper shredder fast.

I have switched every chemical product for my mixed reef tank to Seachem products. Salt, Fusion, minor adjustment chems, test kits. In 2 weeks every single problem I was seeing went poof, bye bye baby bye bye, or is clearing up. (various algae).

First pipe exterior air to your skimmer. 100% fixed my PH hovering at 7.8 no matter what buffers. PH now8.2-8.3 simply by running a tube outside. Did a massive water change using Seachem salt. Then use the right Seachem products to maintain Alkalinity and Calcium/with trace.

And one of the best parts is I’m using TAP water with Prime now.

I can enthusiastically recommend Seachem products. They are making my small hobby more reasonable and simple.

If you want to get into saltwater...use all Seachem products from day one, follow their direction, ignore most of what you read online until you can weed through the clutter. You will save a ton of cash.
