ICOM MBF-1 Mounting Base NOT Worth the Money!

I purchased the MBF-1 to mount the touch screen of an ICOM IC-5100A remotely. The base is unable to support the weight of the touch screen when the arm holding the touch screen is approximately at a110 degree angle measured from the mounting surface. The suction cup does not hold its suction and is pulled forward towards the weight of the touch screen. In my opinion the suction cup is not large enough to support the weight forward. I have it mounted on a desk surface and I have to use a prop at the base of the touch screen to stop it from falling forward..
The construction material of the MBF-1 is made of plastic. It is light weight. For the 49.00 USD, you would expect it to be more substantial and made of metal or heavy duty composite. I DO NOT recommend the purchase of the MBF-1 base for this application.Read full review...

It works just fine... contrary to what the last reviewer posted.

I think the last reviewer forgot to take the protective cover off the actual suction cup. Lol. It works exactly as designed and even has this sticky adhesive stuff on it that makes the bond even better. Especially for hot windows. I made the same mistake. Take the dull plastic protective cover off (which looks like the suction cup itself) and you’ll be really happy. It’s definitely rugged! A little overpriced, but compare that to a RAM mount that will cost you the same or more. Read full review...
