Good quality at a reasonable price

I purchased this generator to replace a unit that had died. I have an off-grid property and I do a fair bit of stick welding which is very demanding on generators.
The unit was reasonably priced and significantly updated from the unit it was replacing. It includes RCD protection, more substantial circuit breakers and Australian power points.
The frame is nice and solid and has large diameter solid rubber wheels and strong front legs. The fold-over handle is also well designed and makes it easy to wheel around on rough ground. This is significantly better than my previous generator.
The unit came well packaged on a pallet and the only assembly required was the wheels, front legs and battery connection. This took less that 1/2 an hour.
I Adding oil and petrol and it started first go, settling down to a smooth and quiet running RPM. I initially tested the unit with my 2400W metal cut-off saw and the engine didn't even blip. It also ran my old-school heavy arc welder without any noticeable trouble.
I am looking forward to years of reliable power generation.

8kVA (max 6kVa Petrol single phase generator

Easy to start (first time every time) and enough power to run a couple of appliances in a power cut (amongst other things (hubby welds)). Nice big fuel tank for continuous use without worry. Overall, Great value.Read full review...

Heavy duty with good features.

Not yet tested for backup power. Only points that may arise under proper test conditions are the relatively small fuel capacity and the volume of lubricating oil for such a high output machine.

Excellent for out on the property

Easy to move around the property for the little jobs, and great as a reserve for those winter power outages. Ease of operation with the electric start makes it a bonus for all of us getting that little bit older.Read full review...

Heavy and thirsty on fuel

Unit weighs almost 100kg for a 6KVA generator that's just ridiculous. Lucky it's key start because it's far from easy pulling the cord. The rear wheels are brass bushed and if you tighten them correctly they rub against the frame and lock up. Running 2x 2800w vacuum cleaners the machine is under heavy load and tripped once so it's more like 5.5KVA rated. 25L of premium fuel lasted less than 6hrs which is extremely expensive to run. The power points are of poor quality and to plug in its hard and they flex heavily. Good points is it's fairly quite and for the money it's ok. I wouldn't recommend it for someone that's going to use it for commercial purpose or long periods of time. Read full review...

A beast of a thing.

It just works well. One problem with the battery hold down; but it was an easy fix.
