Feminism Done the Right Way

This female-empowering film from 1980 is ripe with punk & new wave songs from the era. The plot is edgy and daring, and it works to the extreme. Follow two young New York women on their way to freedom from the cockamamie mental health system in Times Square. One young lady is on her own, as her abusive parents were MIA growing up. The second young lady runs away from home after her newly widowed father, who is blinded by his upper-class status, forces her to live in a looney bin and take drugs. Both young ladies flee the looney bin and do not take the drugs that they were forced to take by the doctors and nurses there. Instead, the two young ladies survive and make it on their own, and they are not through with their mission until all of Times Square learns the hidden truth of the system which drugs and institutionalizes innocent youth.
